Just when you think that the world couldn’t get any crazier…
Conflicts, aggression, intolerance, protest, and revelations are all part of our amazing human experience. There truly is nothing new under the sun. Yet, with a little help from our dear friend, the veil of amnesia, one might be caught off guard in thinking, ‘surely the world has never been this nuts?’
I can assure you, it has.
The amazing thing about this time around is that more people are being called to an awareness, a remembering of their sovereign self, and I believe that that itself is quite unique.
The horror with which we meet certain unveiled secrets is in direct proportion to the lack of awareness we were embodying. After all, you can not be shocked if you have a true understanding of life in all of its many colorful forms. That is not to say that you can not be upset or dismayed by what appears to be the ongoing avalanche of distressing current events, but awakeness gives a certain perspective.
I am neither blind nor deaf to the struggles and suffering of many of my human and animal brothers and sisters, neither am I without compassion nor feeling for them in their burden, but I often feel it is necessary that I step away from the internet and social media doomscrolling, lest I begin to suffer from the abject fear that seems to inhabit many people these days. I have been accused of being ‘heartless’ and ‘unspiritual’ for doing so by some, to my face. Though I consider the preservation of my inner peace to be worth a great deal more than other people’s opinions, What are you going to do?
Tibetan Buddhist Teacher (and all round lovely bloke) Mingyur Rinpoche says that we should treat spiritual self care as we would an in-flight emergency; securing our own oxygen mask before reaching to assist others. I agree. It is a well-worn adage that you can not pour from an empty cup. The saying is well worn because it is true.
These times of ours are testing, and although we may often feel utterly bamboozled by what is transpiring in the world at large, in the political sphere and the eschalons of ‘celebrity’, (can we call it ‘infamy’ yet?) we can rest assured that everything is happening for a reason.
If you weren’t aware of it by now, we are in the midst of a shift.
Yes, a shift in human consciousness. A shift towards a growing ability to embody our soul-selves. Some say we are shifting from being humans in carbon-based form to becoming more crystalline in substance – enabling us to anchor more ‘light’ (plasma? energy? Prana? Chi?) into our human selves. Following along this line of thought, some commentators have suggested that the sun’s growing activity is indicative of a greater influx of plasma (information as light energy) hurtling into our atmosphere and is being absorbed by each of us and in the process is unlocking ‘light codes’ and ‘keys’ stored within our DNA, allowing us to activate the so-called ‘junk’ DNA strands that all humans have (leading, some say to greater telepathy, empathy and an expanded conscious awareness).
Whether that is a concept that resonates with you or not, I am sure we can all agree that big changes are happening.
At times, this shift in consciousness is brazen and loud, and so in-your-face that only the very ignorant could not see it, then all of a sudden it seems to go quiet, ‘where are the changes?’ People ask, ‘isn’t the world still as bad as it always was?’
If you are looking for changes outside of yourself, then I’m afraid you’re looking in the wrong place.
What happens within is reflected without.
Our manifest reality is largely a projection of our state of consciousness. In plain English, you get what you ARE. We don’t yet have the vibrational frequency en masse to have more compassionate, humanitarian, self-aware leaders/world/lives. It’s a bit like being in a codependent relationship. Until you are ready to want better, you will get more of the same.
Our collective frequency is not vibing consistently high enough for the world to be a better place right now. But (and this is why the shift can be pretty shifty), with every awful thing that happens in the world, more people wake up to the truth of things. They peel themselves away from their TVs and smart phones just long enough to begin to hear the soft, distant call of their soul.
What does the soul say?
‘Remember beloved, remember.’
Remember who You are to yourself and who you are to others. Remember your power, your divinity, your sovereignty. Remember that you can choose better. Remember that what is within will be, without. Remember to heal. Remember compassion to self and all others. Remember gratitude. Remember the simple presence of the breath. Remember tenderness and peace and hope. Remember your light and share it with others, no matter who they are.
How do I know I’m shifting?
When your own reality begins to shift, when you have started the inner work, your outer reality will begin to transform in subtle and beautiful ways. There may be moments of great bliss where you just ‘get it’. Like everything in the whole world is just messy perfection, and you are totally ok with that. There may be rather mysterious and magical moments, where you find yourself in the right place at the right time to meet the right person to lead you onto the next phase or project.
Synchronicity is a great sign of what is known as ‘alignment’ (when your thoughts, speech, and actions come from your true soul self and not your human conditioning). Synchronicty is good sign that you are walking your talk and right where you should be. An example of this may be when mentioning someone you haven’t seen for a while, and then just hours later, you bump into them on the street. Or you have been thinking or talking about a specific topic (usually spiritual in nature), and when you pick up a book or magazine, the same sentiment is echoed on the page.
Ah, those little winks from the universe that say, ‘Right here. That’s exactly where you are meant to be.’
Although this great shift in the consciousness of humanity can be, at times, a literal battleground, it is usually subtle and soft. It’s important to know what to look for, most importantly, in your own experience.
So try to drop fear. Step away from panic-fuelled media and 24-hour/daily news, newspapers, gossip-magazines, and any social media account that doesn’t make you feel more hopeful and at peace. Get to know your own true self, the one you were before the wounds and the scars. Spend time interacting with nature – bare feet on grass, tree hugging, wading in shallow, calm waters, or the sea. Find your spiritual center (whether that is a ritual, meditation, practice, or faith). Spend less time around toxicity if you can (people, places, vibes, etc). Hug a pet, feel their heartbeat. Learn how to breathe properly. Journal how you’d like your life to look, then take small steps towards that. Show lots of gratitude for what you already have in your life: breath, friends, food, shelter, pets, a garden or balcony, your sense of humor… whatever it is you are grateful for.
