Beyond Mediumship

Mediumship may be a starting point for a much deeper journey

In and of itself, mediumship can be said to have helped the lives of thousands of people.

If delivered or demonstrated with kindness, compassion and accuracy it is a tool with which many may be healed, uplifted and restored to a better life after loosing their very nearest and dearest.

Like many other facets and teachings of spirituality, I consider the sacred act of mediumship to have an exoteric (outer) meaning or manifestation; through its wide appeal to many, its ability to uplift and to comfort those in need (providing evidence of the continued survival of friends and family members after physical ‘death’). It also holds an esoteric (inner), deeper function.

Mediumship as a starting point.

For some individuals, myself included, the act of communication with the Next World cannot be separated out from the Divine. I do not operate my psychic and spiritual faculties in isolation. I know and understand that my physical being, my embodied personhood, is but one expression of the Divine Consciousness (God, Great Spirit, Cosmic Intelligence, Absolute…..) currently operating amidst this mirage of other aspects of the Divine, that which we call ‘Reality’.

‘In him I live and breathe and have my being.’ Acts 17:28

My own spiritual journey has taken me further into the depths of discovering my own true nature. That I am not limited to flesh, to being born and dying, not even to my identity of ‘self’, has been entirely liberating and fulfilling.

When I began my spiritual pathway proper, my focus and effort was in letting others know the good news that they could never die, that no one was ever lost to them, all of which is a wonderful starting point for most people. For many who are beginning on their journey, the knowledge of their True Nature (through mediumship) is a clarion call to know more.

Nowadays I consider mediumship and my Service to be like that of a gardener.

I am more than happy when an individual is able to hear the words of their loved ones, to know that they are never alone, unloved or forgotten, those things have great power for all concerned.

But I always keep my mind on the seed that is being planted in the heart of the individual at that moment.

It is our role as mediums to touch the hearts and minds and awaken the souls of those we work with. The Work, as it were, is twofold; the exoteric and esoteric.

In outward appearance, a message or contact from a loved one in the Next World is a complete package, a gift tied up with a beautiful bow, well delivered and well recieved. A job complete.

However the inner, deeper role of that message, the parts that are unseen, may resonate long after the recipient has returned to their everyday life. In delivering a spirit contact or link we are actually planting a little seed, that given the correct conditions for growth, will hopefully one day blossom into a spiritually minded, aware and awake individual, one conscious of the true reality of life and spirit.

I teach Mediumship. I practice Self Realisation.

For many people who are not yet ready to step onto the broader path of spiritual self discovery or a deeper awareness of their true Self, mediumship in and of itself, is enough. There is certainly nothing wrong with that. As a servant of the Divine I am content to meet people where they are. It may be that in terms of karma, they will not be able to provide the right soil, fertilizer and water in this life in which the little seed may grow and blossom. That is OK, There is no judgement here.

But for others, I hope that any mediumship message that they recieve is just the beginning for them. That they find a passionate enquiry ignited within them, that they begin to feel drawn to a much greater recognition of themselves, like a moth to a light, that mediumship is the match flame that ignites that enquiry and fuels their curiosity.

Although I teach the path of psychic and mediumistic development to others, I am also a student on the path of realising Self and contrary to opinion, do not see these two things as mutually exclusive. It may seem contradictory to teach others to hone their abilities to communicate with individuals residing in the Next World whilst walking my path of engaging with the larger, undivided Self, but there is no rule written that the two cannot run parallel. We are embodied individually, yet also have our Being in the Absolute.

When each person is ready to understand their True nature and to acknowledge the ultimate reality that they are never separate from that which created us, they will simply be ready to open a door into another room.

This life, this path of development, this soul growth, is infinite. It is a journey not a destination and the journey will hopefully lead us all back to Source.

How we get there doesn’t really matter. Each of us will feel the magnetic pull of our First Cause sooner or later and become conscious of travelling in it’s direction.

It’s my belief that mediumship  (demonstrated or developed) may help in that. That mediumship may act as a catalyst for the greatest journey of your life makes it a skill worth teaching and the service of a life time.
