The Strongest of Spirit Guides.

Mediums never work by ourselves.

We may have developed our soul senses in order to become attuned to the Spirit People and their world, but without the assistance of those helpers in the Next World who volunteer to cooperate with us, we could not deliver Mediumship.

Mediums have Guides in order to enable them to work in closely with the Spirit World and its inhabitants.

It may surprise you to know that unless you are a medium, you don’t have a team of guides behind you, however, everyone is helped and assisted by loved ones and friends on the Other Side of Life. These are not ‘Guides’ in the terms that mediums would understand it. Most people simply don’t need a team of guides to help them, the assistance of their loved ones is enough to guide them through their earthly life.

It’s a misnomer that we have angels or archangels as guides too. Of course, help from the Angelic Realm is available to everyone at all times and if you feel at anytime that you need the healing or protection of the angels, then it is within their remit to give such assistance. As angels have never existed upon the physical plane (they vibrate at a much higher, finer and purer vibrational frequency) or had earthly lives, they are not best suited to work as our guides.

When someone tells me ‘I work with the Archangel Gabriel’ or whichever Angelic personification they prefer, I personally believe that what they actually mean is that they have an affinity for that particular Angelic energy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. Angels are vast, powerful energies, multidimensional beings able to be in many places simultaneously and offer as much help, healing and power as is needed, but they do not work specifically as Spirit Guides.

Spirit Guides fall into several different categories. The main requirement is that they have experienced life as a physical human on the earth. This usually occurred hundreds if not thousands of years ago. The Spirit Guide will usually have gained great spiritual development over this period and in most cases they have agreed to defer their place in much higher realms of the Spirit World in order to stay close to the atmosphere of the earth and work with their medium (also known as their ‘instrument’).

I know that many others will have different views to those that I express here, as Spirit Guides seems to be an emotive subject for some people, but I can only speak from my own experience.

(I would always caution seekers of truth that books on all kinds of guides and Angelic helpers may well be best sellers, but that does not necessarily mean that what is contained within their pages, is correct or that the authors of all such books are mediums with the required depth of knowledge and experience.)

It may be of interest to readers that as the Law of Attraction is always in operation, we attract to us those guides who are a match to our own personal vibration, after all, like does attract like.

I will write more about the different categories of Spirit Guides at a later date, but today I wish to talk about the biggest and burliest of all guides, the Gatekeeper.

Mediums need some protection.

We shine the light of Spiritual knowledge into the gloom of the astral world (the realm closest to our own), much like a lighthouse beam, slicing through sea mist on a cold winter’s night. This light can be seen by all who are resident there, including our friends and loved ones who have passed over to that place. Much like a candle flame, the light is also visible to other people and were it not for our Gatekeeper Guides, mediums may be at risk of Spirit interlopers intruding on their lives day and night.

As the ancient hermetic words state ‘As above, so below.’ There are nice and not-so-nice personalities in our world and the lower levels of the next. As Souls develop and graduate to higher spheres of existence they lose any traits of lower vibrational personalities, but those who were mean in their earthly lives are still mean at their time of crossing, so lower energy influences do exist.

These lower vibrational souls are NOT dangerous to the living and cannot harm us in any way (they simply do not have the power to do that), but they can interfere and disrupt the power flow of a medium during their work and rest times and may cause a little mischief, making it difficult to work at times.

In order that our energy and soul is protected, mediums are assigned Spirit ‘bouncers’ known as ‘Gatekeepers’ or ‘Doorkeepers’. They act as a first and last line of defense in keeping out any undesirables of the orbit of the Medium’s auric field. Much like a doorman at a nightclub, it is their job to only let certain spirit beings have access to their medium. Any one who turns up who’s name isn’t on the list, is quickly and definitely dealt with!

It is for this reason that Gatekeepers are usually the largest and toughest of all the guide’s a medium will have. They will often have a feeling of immense height and matching broad shoulders and be familiar with the rough and tumble of the earthly, as well as the spiritual sides of life.

My first encounter with a Gatekeeper Guide was when giving healing to my husband (a developing medium). As I placed my hands onto his shoulders in the darkened room, I immediately became aware of a spirit gentleman, standing about 7 feet tall, arms crossed defiantly across his chest, muscles bulging beneath a dark jacket. He was stood, facing me at the side of my husband, his medium.

‘I’m the Doorman.’ When he spoke he had a deep, gruff voice and a ‘don’t mess with me’ attitude that made me take notice!

Having heard of these guides, but never having met one before I immediately introduced myself to him and in my mind reassured him that I had my husbands permission to work with him, energetically.

It is amazing that at that time, neither my husband nor myself were aware that he had mediumship abilities, however, it was due to that meeting that I began to suspect that he may be on a path of Spiritual and mediumistic development as, here I was being glowered at by this burly spirit man, guarding his medium, checking that I had my husbands permission to do the work I was undertaking. It was an ‘aha!’ moment for me, as I knew that it was only mediums that have such protectors.

More recently I have met my own Gatekeeper Guide and his energy is one in a million.

I was just on the cusp of closing my eyes to sleep when I became aware of the shadowy outline of a truly gigantic man, stood by my bedside. His energy immediately resonated with me and I knew he was someone I could trust. I could feel powerful yet loving waves of strength and protection flowing from him to me.

A gigantic Saracen, holding a scimitar and wearing a helmet or headdress, he spoke to me simply; ‘I am a Warrior. Protector.’

Here was my Doorkeeper, introducing himself. I believe now that he had stepped forward in greeting a few months before, when I heard a man with a deep voice speak to me before a Home Circle to tell me ‘I once Guarded the Temple of Solomon.’

After a little Internet research I found that the Saracens had indeed guarded Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem in 1099BCE when the European Crusaders arrived to roust them.

All of this fitted with the information and visitation of my Gatekeeper, a man with almost cartoonish proportions.

After so much time in the Spirit World, I know that my Gatekeeper has developed beyond any need for or belief in war. He presents himself as a great warrior still because that is his job. I certainly wouldn’t mess with him and I am truly humbled by his agreeing to be my guardian and personal protector. I know that he has given up much to remain close to me in order that he may fulfill his role and that is awe-inspiring for me.

Whilst this great giant of a spirit man is obviously very well experienced in looking after himself and others, he also has a much gentler, quiet side. I believe that I can perceive his spirit and true personality because he works so closely with me.

What he does is offer protection and acts as a guardian to shield me from any harm and I believe that he is the perfect Gatekeeper. I certainly feel very safe knowing that he is near and I am very lucky to have such a soul working with me.
