Psychic vs Medium

Are the two words mutually exclusive? What does it mean to be a Psychic or a Medium?

I can only write from my own experience, understanding and what I believe to be true, so if the following descriptions tread on any delicate toes out there, I apologise in advance.

A Psychic is somebody who ustilises their natural, God given powers of perception to sense, percieve and/or read another. Each of us is energy vibrating as matter and we each have an energy field (aka an auric field). When our energy field touches the energy field of another person, object or place we may pick up on sensations, mental images or hitherto unknown pieces of information.

Psychic or Soul Senses are inate in EVERYBODY, they just sit closer to the surface of conscious awareness in certain individuals. I would argue that, depending on the level of interest in an individual, anyone can develop their natural Soul Senses.

Whether they should be developed is a topic for a later discussion.

Natural Psychic Senses include things like precognitive & lucid dreaming, clairaudience (‘clear hearing’), clairvoyance (‘clear seeing’), Clairsentience (‘clear sensing’) & Claircognisance (‘clear knowing’). Nearly everyone on the planet will have had the experience of knowing when someone was looking at them and looked up to meet their gaze or walked into a room to feel an odd sensation that an argument has just taken place. These are some simple examples of your Soul Senses in action.

Professional Psychics use their own ‘beam’ of psychic focus to hone in on the auric field of another (or object, place etc) and relay the information that is contained within it. This can include any number of pieces of information pertaining to the character, life, occupation, habits, relationships and even past lives of the sitter.

A Tarot Reading would be considered a psychic exercise as the reading is mainly intuitive and utilises the energy of the sitter together with what the information on the cards themselves is revealing.

Mediumship is different. Mediums utilise a finer vibrational attunement with the astral and other realms of the spirit world to connect with loved ones who have passed over.

Instead of reaching their psychic beam of focus forwards to the person sitting in front of them (or object or atmosphere of a place) in order to read them, a medium connects to the World of the Spirit and those who reside there.

Mediums are always also psychic, yet many psychics are not mediums.

Good, ethical mediumship is usually developed by sitting regularly in a development circle, guided by an experienced and grounded teacher, over a period of many months and years.

Although both psychism and mediumship are utilised to render Service on behalf of the Great Spirit, the more popular versions depicted on TV shows and in the movies are generally demonstrated using psychism alone.

One is not necessarily better than the other, but they are different. If you have a reading with someone who claims to be a medium but who cannot demonstrate evidence of the continuation of a loved one (their survival beyond physical ‘death’) to your satisfaction or who can only tell you information about yourself, then the reader is most likely working on a purely psychic vibration.

If, on the otherhand, a reading consists of plenty of evidence of a discarnate person and lots of personality traits of your spirit loved one (including evidence that you may have to verify as correct after the sitting) then the reader is likely to be a medium.

As a medium myself I believe that it is impossible to not use our psychic abilities during a reading as they are intrinsically linked with what we do (eg I often find myself attempting to psychically read a spirit person if they aren’t very forthcoming!) . That being said, mediums should always aim to provide the very best evidence of survival they possibly can from the spirit person themself.

Psychic vs Medium; plenty of crossovers but also some significant differences.
